Federation Consultation

Dear Parents/Carers, Staff and the wider School Community,

The governors of St John the Evangelist Infant and Nursery School and St Nicolas C.E. Junior School have been looking at ways of working more closely together to make the best educational provision for children in our local community.

Both governing boards have agreed to consult with parents/carers, staff, the Local Authority, the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education, members of the local community and local churches on a proposal to federate the two schools.

During the past few months, the governors of both schools have been exploring the idea of federating and have developed the attached document to explain what a federation is, and what it might look like in practical terms. We have highlighted some of the significant issues to assist parents/carers, members of staff and other interested parties, and this is now your opportunity to let us know your views about this proposal.

The document contains the following:
·         An outline of the proposal
·         Information about how you can give your views
·         Frequently Asked Questions

It will be published on the websites of both schools from midday on Tuesday 25th May 2021, when the formal consultation process begins, until midday on 13th July 2021. Hard copies will also be made available in the school offices.

The consultation process has been designed to help us find out what you think about the proposal and we would like to hear your views, so that the governing boards of both schools can make an informed decision on whether to federate or not. (A name for the proposed federation would be consulted on and approved of as part of a separate process.)

Yours sincerely,

Jane Renouf and Sue Brown (Co-Chairs of Governors at St John the Evangelist School)
Rachel Winchester (Chair of Governors at St Nicolas School)
